Jack Christman Obituary
Wilmington - Jack A. Christman, of Brandywine Hundred, lost his battle with addiction on May 2.
Jack was a 2013 graduate of the International Baccalaureate program at Mt. Pleasant High School and had attended the University of Delaware's College of Engineering where he was a member of the Theta Chi fraternity. Jack was smart, funny, compassionate and truly unique. He was co-captain and goal-keeper for the Green Knights Varsity soccer team and an avid snowboarder hitting the slopes as often as he could. He loved music…all types, played guitar and created new music on his mixing board. He made friends easily and could relate to anyone young or old. Jack was easy going with an infectious laugh and a quick wit. He was deeply loved by many.
Jack is survived by his parents, Julie and Harry Christman; his sister Lydia Christman; his brother Luke Christman; his maternal grandparents, Pamela and Kenneth Board; and his paternal grandparents, Buck and Shirley Christman.
A visitation will be held from 10-11am, Monday May 13 at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3924 Concord Pike, it will be followed by a service in thanksgiving for his full, but all too short life at 11am. The family respectfully requests honoring Jack's memory by sending contributions to the organization "atTAck addiction" (www.attackaddiction.org). You are all in my thoughts and prayers. Losing someone we love is very painful; but know that God has His arms wrapped around Jack, and nothing more will ever hurt him. He is safe and sound.
Now you must grieve and recover even if you don't want to! You will miss Jack, but you must remember he is always and forever in your hearts, and he is free from all harm and pain. I'm imagining that Vic Daley is right beside Jack now offering him some advise on how to live in heaven! Vic has been there for almost seven months, and most likely considers himself to be the BEST Human Resources Head that God has ever known! Hang on to each other; hug a lot and know that God will take care of Jack and, eventually, bring comfort to you all. Sending love and blessings to you all.

My thoughts and prayers are with the entire Christman family. I worked with Jack for a few years at Famous Daves. He was one of the most sweetest ppl there, ALWAYS put a smile on my face no matter what kind of day I was having. RIP Jack , I will always remember your infectious smile and your welcoming hugs.

I'm sorry to read this. I didn't know your son but I know the pain of losing a child to addiction. I lost my 26 year old son 2 years ago. Praying for comfort and God's grace during this very sad time.

First, I would just like to say that I am deeply sorry for your loss of what seems to be such an Amazing young man! Secondly, I would like to let you know that unfortunately I did not have the pleasure of knowing your son but from what I've read, I really wish I could have! Reading your son's obituary hits very close to home for me because I too suffer from this nightmarish disease! It is by far the absolute hardest thing I have ever had to deal with in my life! However, I would strongly like to commend you for explaining the reason for your son's passing! The stigma behind this disease is absolutely disgusting! There should never be a feeling of shame or embarrassment when it comes to addiction because the truth is, no one is exempt from it! It can happen to absolutely anyone! And it does! Addiction has No preference in Gender, Race, Age, Etc...! Seeing that your son has lost his battle with this horrible disease makes me truly sad and it reminds me that I am not invincible and that I need to continue to fight this disease for not only myself but for your son & others as well! Again, I am deeply sorry for your loss of such an Amazing young man!

I do not know the Christman Family; but I do know the pain of losing someone you love to an addiction. Our grandson, Chris passed away 14 months ago. We will keep your family in our prayers, asking God for His strength and comfort.

Jack was a delightful, sweet young man. He was part of a great group of close-knit guys in high school that included our son. He was a frequent visitor to our home and part of our family during that time. He will be sorely missed and his memory cherished. Julie and family we are holding you in the light!

I never had the pleasure to meet Jack, but I leaned of his struggle with addiction by listening to you share at Wednesday evening Nar Anon meetings. Jack had the innate ability to bring laughter and life everywhere he went. He truly brought out the best in people and was able to smooth over any situation with his charm and wit! He was sarcastic and ornery, but also sensitive and caring. He will truly, truly be missed!
