James Gamgort, JR.

AGE: 79 • Hockessin

Passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 17, 2014. He was the husband of Lita Aprile Gamgort with whom he recently celebrated 56 years of marriage. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Donna M. Moloney and her husband, Charles, their children, Jimmy and Katie Moloney; his brothers, Bob and wife, Barbara, of Spring Lake, NJ and Bill and wife, Mary, of Avondale, PA; his sister, Joanne Ridley and husband, Marlin of Wilmington, DE; step granddaughters, Carolyn and Laura Moloney; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, James Sr. and Antoinette Gamgort.

Jim was born and raised in Wilmington. He retired from the Delaware River and Bay Authority as a police lieutenant in 1992 after 30 years of service. Jim was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, American Legion, Stahl Post 30, Knights of Columbus, Pius X Council, St. Anthony Holy Name Society, Sons of Italy-Piedmont Lodge, and the Old Prices Run Gang.

Friends are welcome to remember Jim's life in prayer with his family. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 7200 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin on Wednesday, July 23rd at 11AM where visitation will begin at 10AM. A committal service will follow at All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington.
