James Hopkins Obituary

James W. Hopkins

James W. Hopkins, age 75 of Wilmington, DE went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 7, 2012.

Mr. Hopkins worked with his father, Clarence Hopkins and 2 brothers with their family business, Hopkins & Sons until 1984, when he founded Delaware Moving & Storage Inc of Bear, Delaware serving as president until his retirement in 2004. He worked a total of about 60 years within the moving and storage industry. He was a member of Fairwinds Baptist Church for 35 years. James enjoyed boating, camping, clamming and fishing in and around Ocean City, Maryland since 1970. He loved spending time most of all with his beloved family every chance he had.

James is survived by his loving wife, Joan T. (Sheppard) Hopkins; 3 sons, James D. Hopkins and wife Jessica, David W. Hopkins and wife Aleshia and Andrew J. Hopkins; a daughter, Lesley A. Correll and husband Timothy; 3 sisters, Dorothy Ventresca, Ruth Murray and Della Gutowski; 8 grandchildren, Keyona, Chandler, Caidin, Ciara, Seth, Cole, Alaina and Molly. James was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Della (Wooldridge) Hopkins; 2 brothers, Ralph and Harry Hopkins, and a grandson, Dalton.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 13, in the Fairwinds Baptist Church, 801 Seymour Rd., Bear, DE 19701 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm and again on Friday, September 14, from 11 am to 12 noon followed by a service in celebration of James' Life at 12 noon. Burial will be held in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be sent to the A.I. DuPont Hospital for Children, Attn: Shands House (Cardiac Care Unit), 1600 Rockland Road, Wilmington, DE 19803.
