Janet Wimmer Obituary
Age, 94 of Wilmington passed away surrounded by her loving family on January 3, 2014. Janet was born in Wilmington and graduated from Wilmington High School. She began her working career as an operator for the Bell Telephone Company and retired from ICI as the Supervisor of the Telephone Exchange. She met her husband of 54 years, Howard C. Wimmer during WWII and they spent their honeymoon in Cape May, NJ. Both of them fell in love with Cape May and eventually purchased a home at the resort, where they spent many happy days. She loved her family and enjoyed having them spend time with her.
Janet was preceded in death by her husband Howard and her brother, Walter McClure, Jr. She is survived by her children, Glenn Wimmer (Susan) and Patricia MacDonald (Samuel); her brother, Robert McClure; her grandchildren, David Kelly, Kierstin Strand (Quentin) and Chelsea MacDonald (Alicia Brandemarte). Also left to cherish her memory are her great-grandchildren Stella and Javin Strand.
A funeral service will be held at the McCrery and Harra Funeral Home, 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington at 11:00 on Thursday January 8, where family and friends are invited to call after 10:30. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations in Janet's memory to a charity of your choice.

As a Concord Church member, I had the pleasure of visiting with Janet while serving home communion to her. Such a lovely, intelligent and interesting person. It was great fun to know her.
