Joel Houghton Obituary
AGE: 38 • Hockessin
Passed away on March 8 at St. Francis Hospital. He is survived by his parents, Thom and Nancy Houghton-Lynch; his sisters, Emma, Allison and Mallory; his grandfathers, John J. Houghton and James A. Lynch; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, all of whom loved him dearly.
In keeping with Joel's loving and generous spirit, it was his decision to be an organ donor through the Gift of Life program so that others may live. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 809 S. Broom St., Wilm., on Friday, March 11 at 10:30 AM. Interment in All Saints Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to St. Elizabeth Church, 809 S. Broom Street, Wilm., DE 19805.

I was so saddened to hear of Joel's death. I didn't know him personally, but know/have known/ taught several members of the Lynch and Houtman families. My heart goes out to all of you!
Although Joel is no longer among you physically, and you feel that loss and pain keenly; what a beautiful thing it must be to know he lives through others and has been a blessing to them!

Nancy, Tom and family,
Please know that you all are in my prayers during this difficult time. There just are no words! I can picture just like it was yesterday your sweet Joel as a young boy... always smiling, mischievous, but with a heart of gold. He brought sunshine and life to every room he entered. He now by his passing continues to give life to others. That is such an amazing gift. He changed the world with his loving gift of life. May that bring you some peace. May you all find solace in these difficult times.

My deepest sympathy to your family on this sad occasion. My daughter Michelle Olin was a dear friend of Joel's. Sadly I lost her this year also on January 15th. I know first hand the pain and shock you must be going through. I am stunned to hear they both passed weeks from one another. It just doesn't seem real. God Bless you all.
