John Albertson Obituary

John "Jack" J. Albertson

Newark - John "Jack" J. Albertson, age 90, of Newark, DE. passed away on December 8, 2017 after a long illness, surrounded by his family.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Anna and Frank Albertson; sons John and Michael Albertson; sister, Dorothy Purro; and brother, Bill Albertson.

Jack is survived by his companion of 24 years, Jacqueline London; his son, Gary Albertson and daughter-in-law, Debra; his granddaughter, Kristen Ogden (Michael); grandson, Philip Albertson (Amanda); 2 great grand-daughters, Leanna Albertson-Czerwinski and Kelsie Ellingsworth; his sister, Anna May Ligameri; and an extended family in New Jersey.

Jack served in the US Navy in World War II, in Okinawa from 1945 - 1946. He then worked at the Philadelphia Navy Shipyard in Philadelphia and went on to become a Union Carpenter in Atlantic City for more than 20 years, retiring in 1995.

Jack loved golf, fishing, horseback riding, karaoke, drawing, taking walks with his beloved dog Suzie and spending time with family and friends.

A Committal Service will be held on Friday, December 22, 2017 at 11:00am at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE 19701. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jack can be made to: VFW Post 475, 100 Veterans Drive, Newark, DE 19711, or Veterans of Foreign Wars, online.
