On February 19, 2006, John F. Durbano, age 86, died of pneumonia at Parkview Nursing Home. He was a lifelong resident of Wilmington, DE.
John graduated from Wilmington High School and attended the University of Delaware. He worked for many years for the Delaware Department of Transportation, retiring in 1982. During WWII, he proudly served in the US Air Force for 3½ years. John was a member of St. Ann's Church, the American Legion and the VFW.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Alice; brother, Anthony; sister, Rose, all of Wilmington; 4 nieces; and 2 nephews. Another brother, Harry, predeceased him.
Alice extends her gratitude to the staff of Parkview Nursing Home and Delaware Hospice for their kindness and concern during this trying period.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 am on Friday, February 24, 2006, at St. Ann's Catholic Church, 2013 Gilpin Avenue, Wilmington. Interment will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Kennett Square, PA.
Instead of flowers, John's family suggests contributions to Delaware Hospice, 3515 Silverside Road, Wilmington, DE 19810.
