John L.K. Jenney died September 6, 2005, the eve of his 102nd birthday.
Mr. Jenney was the oldest alumni of Princeton University and was class president of 1925 and member of Phi Beta Kappa. He was a graduate of Kent School, a member of the Wilmington Club and Society of Colonial Wars. He was the director of the foreign relation department of DuPont. He was also president of the Delaware Art Museum and member of the Council on Foreign Relations. His board memberships included DuPont of Canada, Ducilo, History Committee at Princeton, World Affairs Council of Wilmington, Wilmington Medical Center and Christ Church. His love of Winterthur and Gran-ogue lands and the loss of so much duPont family lands to development prompted the preservation of the Jenney – duPont Woods together with Emily duPont and Frolic Weymouth. He would urge the community and officials to prevent any further loss of lands to development. Mr. Jenney was an accomplished tennis player, avid fox hunter and lifelong Episcopalian.
Services are pending at this time.
