John LAWLER Obituary

John C. Attix Lawler Age 70, a lifelong resident of Carney's Point, NJ died at home on Saturday, October 23, 2004. Born in Essington, PA, he was the son of the late Charles and Gertrude Attix. He retired from DuPont in 1985, served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War, played as a halfback for REHI in 1951 when they won the TC Championship and for the semi-pro Swedesboro Devils in 1967. He was one of the founding members of the Penns Grove Twins Football organization, and in 1967 was the head coach when the won the TCMFL Championship. He served as the head coach for the St. James Spartans, was a member of the original Blackhawk Boys Club, the Sakima Country Club and Corpus Christi R.C. Church. He is survived by his 6 children, John Lawler of Cancun, Mexico, Steve Lawler of Nederland, Texas, David Lawler of North Olmstead, Ohio, Adam Lawler of Newark, DE, Brenda McIntyre and Stephanie Elmer both of Carney's Point, and 12 grandchildren. His wife Delores (nee Farro) predeceased him in 1995. A Memorial Service will be said on Thursday, October 28, 2004 at 7:30 pm at the ADAMS FUNERAL HOME, 18 E. Maple Ave., Penns Grove, NJ 09869. Relatives and friends are invited to call starting at 6 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Carney's Point Recreational Center, 303 Harding Highway, Carney's Point, NJ 08069.
