John REYNOLDS Obituary

John C. "Jack' Reynolds, Sr. Of Collins Park, New Castle. Age 79. Died on Saturday, April 3, 1999 at Christiana Hospital, Newark, DE. Service: 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 9, at Holy Spirit R.C. Church, 12 Winder Rd., Garfield Park, New Castle. Friends may call on Thursday, 7-9 p.m. at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Pky, Wilm. Manor. Burial: Delaware Veterans Cemetery. Mr. Reynolds was a merchandiser for Penn Fruit, Prices Corner, for 17 yrs., retiring in 1975. After retiring, he managed the GMS Variety Store & Boxwood Liquors, both in Richardson Park. He was a member of Holy Spirit Parish. Mr. Reynolds was a US Army veteran of World War II, serving in the 7th Armored Division. He fought in the Normandy Invasion and the Battle of Verdun and earned the Bronze Star and several Purple Hearts. His wife, Sophia T. Czapka Reynolds, died in 1998. Survivors: son, John C. Reynolds, Jr. of Wilmington, DE, daughter; Mary D. "DeDe" Dzielak of Bear, DE; 3 brothers, A. Lewis Reynolds of Jamesburg, NJ; Paul Reynolds of Key West, FL; Mark Reynolds of Freehold, NJ; 2 sisters; E. Jean Brown of Hendersonville, NC Lucille Dill of Freehold, NJ and 3 grandchildren.
