Joseph Barry Obituary
AGE: 65 • New Castle
Joseph Richard Barry, Jr., age 65, of New Castle, DE, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, October 5, 2017. Joe retired from Chrysler after 30 years of dedicated service. He was a very genuine and generous person who was great to be around. Joe was a thinker who was well read and enjoyed philosophical conversation. He loved to laugh and watch comedy programs. Joe looked forward to going to the beach and had a great time on his one trip overseas to Spain. Family was important and he especially cherished time spent with his grandchildren.
Joe is survived by his son, Joseph Barry III; daughters, Meghan Barry (husband, Michael Simpler) and Kelly Smith (Jason Smith); grandchildren: Conor, Kaleigh, and Aubree; former wife and mother of his children, Karen Callahan; sister, Kathleen Wismer (Carl); 1 niece and 2 nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Sr. and Gertrude Barry; and sister, Patricia Kauffman.
A visitation will be held Friday, October 13, 2017 from 10-11 AM at Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Rd., Newark, DE 19702 followed by a service in celebration of Joe's life at 11 AM. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Horizon House Inc, ATT: Advancement Dept., 3275 Stokley St., Philadelphia, PA 19129.
