Judith Kiehl Obituary

Judith Marple Kiehl

Glen Mills - Judith Marple Kiehl, a resident of Maris Grove, passed away May 25, 2018 after a long illness. She was 77 years old.

Judy was born to the late Daniel and Edna Marple. She grew up in north Wilmington and graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1958. She earned a BS degree in Home Economics Education from Penn State where she met her husband of 56 years. Together they served three years in the Air Force in San Antonio, Texas. Returning to Wilmington in 1965, she raised her family, taught, worked in retail, and finally managed a Bank of Delaware office at the Methodist Country House on Kennett Pike. She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church for 52 years.

Judy liked to cook and sew, serve God through her church and the Delmarva Walk to Emmaus community. Most of all, she loved being with her family and friends, and spending every available moment at the beach in Stone Harbor, New Jersey, playing Old Maid.

She is survived by her husband, Lynn Kiehl of Glen Mills, Pennsylvania and two wonderful daughters, Karen Good (Andrew) of Wilmington, and Pamela Armstrong (Eric) of Newark, Delaware. She leaves five grandchildren, Alex Armstrong, Lindsay Good, Zachary Armstrong, Connor Armstrong, and Rebekah Good. She adored and was extremely proud of her family. Judy has one brother, Daniel Marple, who lives with his family in Sherborn, Mass.

A gathering will be held on Wednesday May 30, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the McCrery and Harra Funeral Home (Rt. 202 South of Silverside Road) 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE 19803. Burial at Lower Brandywine Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Judy's memory to the Resident Care Fund, Maris Grove, 100 Maris Grove Way, Glen Mills, PA 19342.
