Karen Densmore Obituary

Karen L. (Lefler) Densmore

Karen L. Densmore, age 61, of Dagsboro, DE, formerly of Newark, passed away peacefully at her daughter's home on Wednesday, August 7, 2013.

She was born in Wilmington to the late Jeannette and Kemer Lefler, Sr., and graduated from Brandywine HS in 1969. She was the payroll administrator of Clarion Resort Hotel in Ocean City, MD. Karen was a member of the Women of the Moose Lodge, East Sussex Chapter 2204 and a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary at Brandywine Hundred and Wilmington Manor Fire Companies. She was an avid Eagles fan, enjoyed online gaming and many types of water activities; driving on the beach, boating, reading on the beach but especially fishing. Her greatest joy was the times she spent with her family.

Karen is survived by her husband of 18 years, Robert; 2 children, Terry McCann, Jr. and his wife Kelly and Sherry Haro and her husband Hector; 6 grandchildren, Tyler, Megan, Daniel, Cameron, Jeannette and John; a sister, Joan Clark; her twin brother, Kemer Lefler, Jr. and several nieces and nephews.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, August 13 from 6-8pm at the MCCRERY & HARRA FUNERAL HOMES, 3710 Kirkwood Hwy, (at Duncan Rd) and on Wednesday, August 14 from 10-11am at The Chapel of Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. Dupont Hwy, New Castle, DE where the funeral will begin at 11am. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.

A gathering to celebrate Karen's life will also be held on Friday, August 16, from 1-3pm, at the East Sussex Moose Lodge, 35993 Zion Church Rd., Frankford, DE 19945, with a light lunch.

Karen's family would like to express their appreciation to Delaware Hospice, the New Castle and Sussex County offices, for all their love and support, and also to caring friends and family during this time, especially her caretakers, Jean Densmore, Kelly McCann and Karen Merritt.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
