Karl Bair Obituary
Of Wilmington, DE, formerly of Leesport, PA, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on July 23, 2012, at the age of 67, after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer.
Karl graduated as salutatorian from Schuylkill Valley High School. He then served in the Navy, completed an apprenticeship at Textile Machine Works, continued on to become a Mechanical Engineer at Penn State University and held a license as a Professional Engineer. He was employed at DuPont, AstraZeneca, and CMI-Promex Inc. before retiring. Karl was a member and treasurer of Community Fellowship Church and the Gideons West Camp. He enjoyed telling jokes, working on cars and aquatic classes at the Western YMCA.
Karl is survived by his wife of 43 years, Elaine R. (Himmelreich) Bair, daughters; Kristen D. Hink (Corey) and Stephanie L. Hollinshead (Matthew), brother, Calvin H. Bair Jr., sister, Arlene Weaver, his mother-in-law, Anna Himmelreich, and 5 grandchildren; Evangeline, Anastacya, Ethaniel, Abigail and Noah. He will also be missed by his beloved dog, Cleo, and a host of other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Eric R. Bair, parents Calvin Sr. and Helen (Graeff) Bair, sisters; Sarah Schieferstein and Mabel Stamm, and brother, David Bair.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 27, at 11 am at Community Fellowship Church, 200 Armstrong Ave., Wilmington, DE 19805. The viewing starts at 10 am where family and friends may visit. A graveside service will be at 3:30 pm at St. Paul's Union Cemetery, Fleetwood, PA.

I had the pleasure of meeting Karl when I started teaching water classes at the Y. I could always count on him for my Monday morning class. Always pleasant, always friendly. He will be missed. I am sorry for your loss.

Karl was in my aqua size class on wednesday. He always had a joke or comment that made everyone laugh. Always the gentleman, always friendly, never down, he will be missed.

Karl was in my water classes on Mondays and Fridays, until I stopped teaching in October. I always enjoyed Karl and his jokes! I am so sorry for your loss.

We so wish we all could have been there to support all of you in person, please trust that prayers were with all of you and continue. We would have liked to know Karl better but what we do know is he raised a remarkable daughter that our cousin was lucky enough to marry and she from that parenting has become stellar Mom!!!
