Kenneth C. WHALEY

Kenneth C. Whaley "Hoss" Age 81 of Laurel, DE died, Friday, February 4, 2005 at PRMC in Salisbury, MD. Mr. Whaley was a U.S. Navy Veteran. Mr. Whaley worked for the Delaware State Highway Department. He was a heavy equipment operator for various companies. He was a school bus owner and driver for the Laurel School District. He was also a Deputy Sheriff for 10 years. Mr. Whaley was a 30 year friend of Bill W. a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #19 in Laurel. a member of the Laurel Exchange Club. He was a Past President of the Delmarva Country Music Association. He was also a member of the Peninsula Bluegrass Association. He attended Trinity United Methodist Church in Laurel. He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas H. and Elizabeth E. Whaley; his son, Wendell K. Whaley; brothers, Clarence Whaley and Monroe Whaley and his sisters, Margaret Boyce and Gladys Whaley. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ruth Pepper Whaley of Laurel; daughter, DanaLee Whaley of Jacksonville, FL; sons, Roger D. Whaley, Sr. and his wife, Virginia of Laurel, Charles T. Whaley, I of Laurel, Michael B. Whaley, Sr. and his wife, Darlene of Laurel, John K. Whaley, Sr. of Laurel and Charles T. Whaley, II and his wife, Donna of Laurel; sister, Thelma Jean Phillips of Kent Island, MD; 18 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 8, 2005, 1 pm at Trinity United Methodist Church in Laurel. Interment will follow at The Lone Pine Cemetery at the Whaley family farm in Laurel. Friends may call Monday evening from 7-8:30 pm at the SHORT FUNERAL HOME, 700 West St. in Laurel.
