He was my algebra teacher in high school, he was a friend to me and my family. He took our family portraits for us. I saw him a couple years ago and we had a nice talk. He was a fantastic human being and will be missed always

My deepest sympathies to all of Lou's family and friends.

I knew Lou Camerota for over 50 years. I joined the Highland Camera Club sometime during my Sophomore year and we stayed in touch to varying degrees for all the years since. About 12-15 years ago we started to get in touch more often, usually over discussions about photography. Over the years I met Gail a few times, more in the more recent years. I kept in touch with them and went to visit a few times and I would see them if they came up here.
I last talked to Lou late last Winter. We ended the call agreeing to get together sometime in the nicer weather this Spring or Summer.

Lou was one of those teachers who never judged a kid on reputation or looks. He treated us all equally and fairly. I never had a class of his but he was my mentor for my Photography hobby. Something that has given me a lot of pleasure and opportunity thru all my adult life.

I had to take his Geometry class twice and the second time my sister Terry was in the class with me. He put up with our nonsense without even breaking a sweat. Great teacher. RIP Mr. Camerota.

One of the very best teachers I had during my years (1967-1971) at Highland Regional High School. He was also a great person. He will be missed.

Sorry to hear of his passing. I had him for algebra at Highland Highschool back in the early 70'S. Enjoyed his class. I still have two photos that he took of me. One was at our Powder Puff football game in which I played in. Great memories.

I was a student at Highland High (1973-1977) and had Mr. Camerota as my math teacher. I enjoyed his class and I believe that he enjoyed us as well. He was a popular teacher.

Lou became a customer of mine about 7 years ago. I run a computer repair shop near him and he came in flummoxed by a sound issue. Lou was very hard of hearing and not overly computer savvy. Gail was with him on that first visit, a very sweet and obviously a very patient woman. Well, after a few minutes of discovering he was nearly deaf and finding the problem with his laptop we were both startled by full volume Steppenwolf blaring out of the speakers. Gail just laughed, other customers jumped.

From that day forward Lou was a regular customer. A very regular customer. I made many trips to his house, he made many more to the store. He became a friend over the past seven years. He could always laugh at himself when it was something dumb and didn't get upset when I laughed as well.

He told lots of stories as I worked, I got to learn how to load a reel-to-reel tape deck and listen to music he'd recorded 40 years ago. His house is devoted to his photography and Gail features prominently in them.

The two were an endearing couple, even to the end. Lou will always be a happy memory for me and he has provided stories I will always tell to others.

I've been blessed to have known the two of them, I will keep their memories alive in my heart and everywhere else I am able.

So sorry to hear about Lou & Gail. Both of us were colleagues of Lou at Highland. He was our wedding photographer. He would stop in to see us at Highland and Timber Creek after he retired. We will always remember him as an artist, car enthusiast, and friend. We send our deepest condolences to both families.
