Louis Fournarakis Obituary

Louis P. Fournarakis

Age 88, of Wilmington, DE, passed away on December 6, 2010 to be with his wife of 65 years, Elsie.

He met her at the Dravo Ship Yard where they both worked at the start of World War II. Lou served during WWII with the U.S. Navy as a radio operator after attending school in Connecticut. He was a member of Local Union #313, I.B.E.W. for 58 years.

Lou loved his garden which he looked forward to every year. He enjoyed Delaware Park, playing cards, Shady Maple in East Earl, PA and his cigar.

He is survived by his son Louis of Wilmington; his son Paul and his wife Sarah of Pike Creek; his daughter Judi Helms and husband Tom of Marietta, GA; sister Mary Littel and sister in-law Kay Fournakis, both of Wilmington; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren. The family would also like to give special thanks to Renee and the staff of Delaware Hospice for their love and care.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 11 from 9-10:30 am in the MCCRERY MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 3710 Kirkwood Hwy., Wilmington, 19808. The funeral service will follow at 10:30 am. Burial will be in Cathedral Cemetery, Wilmington.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Delaware Hospice, 3515 Silverside Rd., Wilmington, DE 19810.

You will never be forgotten. I will always remember Elsie and Lou when we were living in Glen Berne growing up. My stepfather and mother thought the world of both of them.My mother has passed since and my stepfather William Mandros sends his condolences. Linda stepdaughter also .

I am so very sad to read about Louie's passing. My condolences to his family. I received a few notes from him recently, and he was looking forward to planting his garden. Rest in peace old friend. You are now with your beloved Elsie.
