Madeline Blanton Obituary
Madeline (Pat) Blanton died peacefully on September 27, 2014 at the age of 94 at Westminster Village, Dover, DE.
Born in Chester, PA, Pat was an energetic, smart and talented woman who had a positive impact on those who knew and loved her. Her cooking, baking and sewing skills were legendary.
Pat graduated from St. Roberts High School, Chester, PA and made her home in Delaware County for many years before relocating full-time to Pot Nets Park, Longneck, DE in the early 1980's. Her husband Bill, passed away at the age of 58 in 1974, while clamming in the Pot Nets bay.
She retired from Fidelity Bank, now Wells Fargo after many years of service. Pat enjoyed her retirement and remained very active. She ran trips for the local AARP chapter and had many adventures with her fellow travelers. Pat was also very active at her church, Mary Mother of Peace, Millsboro, DE where she was a charter member of the Columbiettes.
Pat is survived by her loving children Pat Forester, Linda DiStefano and Bill Blanton (Marilyn); grandchildren Terrence Forester (Wendy), Robert Forester (Gina), Gary Forester (Kim), Michael Forester and Patrick Forester (Heather), Bonnie Atkins (Eddie), Gregory Austin (Kathy), Lisa Corey (Kevin), Daria Harrell (Rich), and Bill Blanton (Amy), as well as 22 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Pat was predeceased by her husband Bill, sons-in-laws Jerry Forester and Lou DiStefano, great-granddaughter Christina Atkins, as well as her parents Joe and Marguerite Sweeney and siblings Joe, Mary, Catherine, Jackie, James and Peggy.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Emeritus at Dover for their loving care of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother over the past 15 months.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, October 3 at Noon at Beeson Funeral Home, 2053 Pulaski Highway, Newark, DE 19713, where friends and family my visit from 10 to noon. Burial will be at Immaculate Heart Cemetery, Chichester , PA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Pat's name to the Columbiettes, PMB-16, Unit 1, 24832 John A. Williams Highway, Millsboro, DE 19966
