Kavelaar "Peg"

Age 62, of Wilmington, DE, passed away surrounded by her family on Wednesday, February 24, 2010, in the Christiana Hospital.

Peg was born in Wilmington, DE to the late Mary (Gleason) and Thomas R. Dunlap, Jr. She graduated from Brandywine HS in 1966. Peg worked at the Dupont Experimental Station for 32 years as a lab technician, retiring in 2004. She was a volunteer at the Delaware Humane Society and an avid animal rights advocate having marched in protests from Washington, D.C to New York City.

She is survived by her husband of 27 years, Michael L.; 3 children, Michael L. Van Kavelaar, Karen M. Gentry and her husband Roy and Janet L. Van Kavelaar, all of Wilmington: 3 siblings, Steven R. and his wife, Kathleen of New Providence, PA, Thomas A. and his wife Vivian, of Middlebury, IN and Phyllis A. Tighe, of Fort Worth, TX; 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Peg was also preceded in death by her sister Mary Catherine Timney.

A Gathering will be held on Wednesday, March 3, from 7-8 pm, at the MCCRERY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE (Talleyville). Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Peg's name to the Delaware Humane Society 701 A Street, Wilmington, DE 19801.
