Age 93, passed from this life on November 29, 2010, in Wilmington Hospital.

She was born March 13, 1917, the daughter of the late Edward G. Daugherty and Carrie Yonker Daugherty. Marian moved to Wilmington in 1932 when her father was transferred here by the DuPont Company. She graduated from P.S. DuPont High School in 1936. Prior to moving to Wilmington, her family had lived in Highland Park, NJ; Detroit, MI; and Toronto, Canada. In Wilmington, she lived on North Rodney St. where she met her husband, Sam. Like many of her generation, she raised her children while her spouse served in the military during World War II and the Korean Conflict. She worked for the DuPont Company and retired from the University of Delaware where she was employed in Housing and Residence Life. She was a conscientious employee who was respected be her associates. Marian enjoyed gardening, her home in Newark, and entertaining her family and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband, Samuel A. Grayson; her brother, Alan Y. Daugherty; and her companion, Robert Jobson. She is survived by her sister, Doris D. Hite of Wilmington; her children, Janice G. Carlin of FL; Jill P. Grayson of Philadelphia; Richard A. Grayson and his wife Janet of Wilmington; Lt. Col. David A. Grayson (Ret.) of San Antonio, TX; 6 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and 4 nieces.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 15, at 11 am, at Grace Baptist Church, 116 W. 41st St., Wilmington, DE 19802.
