Matthew Mah Obituary

Matthew Hammond Mah

AGE: 35 • Wilmington

Matthew H. Mah passed away on May 8, 2016 at his home. Matthew was born in Wilmington, DE, the son of Dennie T. and Marsha M. Mah. He was a graduate of Concord High School Class of 1998 and the University of Delaware earning a Bachelor of Science, Computer and Information Science, 1998-2002. He was a high school basketball and soccer player and a member of the Concord and Kirkwood Soccer representative teams. He made the all-state soccer team in1998. He earned his Eagle Scout Award in 1998. He was a talented guitarist, songwriter and singer in the local jam band Apex Watson.

Matthew pursued a career in information technology working most recently as a Senior DevOps Developer with SevOne, Newark, DE, a digital infrastructure management corporation. Prior to that he worked for Information Consultants (Infocon), Conde Net, Conde Nast, Comcast Interactive Media, The Archer Group winning an Addy Award in 2011 and Mahgical Media.

Matthew will remain a fixed star in the lives of all he encountered. It never mattered if you saw him an hour ago or years ago, he always made you the center of the world. He cared nothing about who you were, what your background or interests were - he simply desired a genuine connection with you as a fellow traveler through this life. The sounds of the woods won't be as sweet knowing he isn't out there savoring the trail.

He is survived by his parents and his brother Joshua T. Mah and Joshua's wife Dana Eldreth of Baltimore, MD. He was predeceased by maternal grandparents Evelyn and William Matthews, Thomaston, GA and paternal grandparents Henriette and Foon Mah, Boston, MA and an uncle James Matthews, Atlanta, GA.

His memorial service will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Wilmington, DE on Sunday, May 22, 2016 at 3:00 PM with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, you may donate to the Christina Cultural Arts Center, Wilmington, DE http://www.ccacde.org/donate.php, a non-profit organization to make affordable arts, education, workforce training and live performances accessible to youth and adults in a welcoming learning environment. Thinking of you today

Dear Matt's family, I am thinking of you all a lot during this time, wishing to wrap you in love and peace... my heart just breaks for you. Matt was truly a wonderful guy. He was one of my first friends when I moved here from Texas 10 years ago, making sure I knew where to go, what to do, where the local bands were playing :)... that's the kind of guy he was. He will be greatly missed, always.

I served as an adult leader for Troop 70 where Matt was an Eagle Scout.

Matt truly was a gifted and unique young man and among the hundreds of boys I encountered on week long camping trips and weekend campouts Matt was always the center of action and ideas.

My most vivd memory was when he asked if his band could play at the Church where we were having our end of the year Court of Honor. I gladly said yes.
