Pamela Glasgow Obituary

Pamela Sides Glasgow

Hockessin

On February 19, 2015; Pamela Sides Glasgow died peacefully. She was the cherished wife of Dennis R. Glasgow, beloved mother of Victoria L. Glasgow & second mother to Ashleigh D. Gunter and Ashley N. Henderson, loving sister of Gloria E. Happel, Keith W. Lipford, Brian L. Lipford, Susan E. Dunnigan, Diana K. Levine, Mark D. Happel and Cindy Bullock, loving aunt of Christopher, Lisa, Erika, Mason, Jessica, Lindsay, Cortney, Andrew, Sean, Maria, Reland, Kimberly and Matthew.

Pam was born in Baltimore, Maryland to her loving parents Ethel Etters Sides and David P. Sides II. After growing up in Baltimore, Pam graduated with honors from Duke University with a degree in Management Science. She had been accepted to MBA programs at the University of Michigan and the University of Pennsylvania, but decided to put those plans on hold in order to marry Dennis Glasgow in December of 1983. They started their life together in a small home in Columbus, Ohio. They moved to Baltimore, MD after about a year when both were recruited to work for then Maryland National Bank. After the move to Baltimore she did complete her MBA in the Executive Program at Loyola College of Maryland. Pam went on to become a very successful executive with MBNA which is what brought them to Delaware.

On their 8th wedding anniversary they were blessed with the birth of their daughter, Victoria, and ever after romantic anniversary dinners gave way to arcades and pizza. Pam loved being a mother and during her illness was able to deepen her relationship with Victoria.

Pam had a grand enthusiasm for life. She loved talking to new people and learning about them. She gave freely of her time and talents often volunteering to help in many unseen ways with any project that needed her. Prior to her diagnosis with metastatic breast cancer she was able to spend some time at the Jersey shore making new friends and enjoying the sunshine and surf.

Pam's diagnosis was made nearly two years ago, and after a flurry of activity in the first two weeks post diagnosis during which she was evaluated for a treatment plan and made plans to protect her family, she considered every day to be a bonus……..and she lived 690 bonus days with gratitude, humility, enthusiasm, and love. She will be missed by all who knew her!

A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, March 14, 2015 at Deerfield Golf Club, 507 Thompson Station Road, Newark, DE beginning at 10:30am. Bishop Elizabeth Eaton will officiate the service. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Pam's life. There will be a luncheon reception after the service as a time to visit with Pam's family and share your memories of this remarkable woman.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Pam's name to Lifebridge Health, 2434 W. Belvedere Ave. Baltimore, MD 21215 (parent of Sinai Hospital of Baltimore where Pam received such excellent care) or Gilchrist Hospice, 11311 McCormick Rd. Ste. 350 Hunt Valley MD 21031. I am saddened to hear of Pam's passing. Victoria alpine ski raced at Blue Mtn. in PA and was a good friend to my son, Shaun. We had great and fun times with the Glasgows, along with other ski race families. Pam and Dennis are very kind and helped my family greatly during our years of ski racing. Although we haven't been in recent contact, we will miss Pam and be forever greatful to their extreme kindness. Dennis, Victoria and to Pam's family, we are so sorry for your loss.

She was an exceptional woman who I always considered my friend. I am honored to have been a part of her life. My thoughts and prayers are with Dennis and Victoria. Pam will be missed by everyone who had the opportunity to know her.
