Patricia Mallon Obituary

Patricia Susan

Mallon

Patricia Susan Mallon, our sweet mother, went to be with God after a long heroic battle with cancer. Her life was the embodiment of sacrifice for family and spiritual service to others.

She is survived by her children: Renee Eck and husband Howard of Wilmington, DE, Jason R. Mallon of Kennewick, WA, JR Mallon and Joseph Mallon both of Claymont, DE, and Joan Fox-Mallon of Richland, WA. Additionally she is survived by her sisters: Marie Connors and Julie Lenzi. She was the grandmother to 8 children, aunt and godmother to nieces and nephews, and mother to anyone who walked through her door and sat at her table. She is preceded in death by her husband Richard, her brother Carmen Lenzi and both her parents, Margaret and Pasquale Lenzi.

Patricia was a devout Roman Catholic, 3rd Order Franscian, member of the Mother's Guild, daily parishioner of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, a Padre Pio prayer group member, and volunteer of both the Emmanuel Dining Hall and Food Closet at Holy Rosary. Her fondest moments were with cherished friends "The Crazies", who provided endless laughs and good times. She loved going to Harrah's, bowling, baking, cooking, and most of all delegating. Patricia worked as a Registered Nurse at Sacred Heart Hospital in Chester, PA., until she retired in 1985.

Her funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, July 16 at 12 pm at Holy Rosary Church 3200 Philadelphia Pike Claymont, DE 19703. Friends and family are invited to call from 9:30 am-12 pm in Church. Burial will follow in Lawn Croft Cemetery, Linwood, PA.

The family of Patricia would like to especially thank Fox Chase Crozier Hospital's Dr. Chura along with his nursing staff: Nichole, Dawn and Ruthie for their excellent and compassionate care. They would like to additionally thank the chemotherapy nurses: Bonnie, Marsha, Terry and Rachel. Finally, the family would like to thank Hospice Nurse's Latrinia and Mandy for their support and care, allowing for our mother to rest at home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests sending donations to Emmanuel Dining Hall or Food Closet at Holy Rosary Catholic Church.

Enjoy your new heavenly home now with our other members. Please let them know how much I miss all of them. Can't wait until we are all united again. Until then big hugs from down here!

I was thinking about a friend of mine, Jason Mallon when I was a child and saw this obituary. Jason, J.R. Renee and Joe I wish there was a way I could comfort you. To anyone who reads this obit please be aware that the statement "she was a mother to anyone who walked through the door" isn't just a superlative tribute to someone who just died, it's a plain fact. Many besides myself could attest to this statement with tangible real life stories about the basic goodness of this woman. Please be assured of my prayers for your mother and for your father as well.

I am heart-broken and sad over the passing of our Pat. I used to fondly refer to her as "our caboose" as she would know all the extra prayers to say after the fifth decade of the rosary in our Padre Pio Prayer Group. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. May you take comfort in knowing that she is resting know in the arms of our Lord! With deepest sympathy,

Dear Pat:

You were such a tough cookie on the outside, but kind, loving, generous and actually humorous at times on the inside. Thank you for the joy you brought to our bowling league, for your "no holes barred" comments about anything and everything, and most of all the smile behind everything you said. You will be greatly missed every Wednesday.

To the Family: She was a blessing. May God comfort you and grant you peace. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dear Pat

You certainly kept everyone honest and on their toes. I will really miss you on Wednesday mornings and traveling with you on our many bus trips. It was wonderful to get to know you and you really were a "sweet" gal!

Patricia:

I have shared these thoughts with you before, but I will share them with you one more time.

As a child, you were the most significant influence in my life. I saw you as a strong, loving, caring, kind, compassionate, genuine, says it like it is, unique, little rough around the edges, and truly good person with a huge heart of gold. I thought ... I would like to be like her.

I want to thank you for the influence you had on my life. Thank you for being so kind. Thank you for being the very special person you were, giving me the opportunity to know someone of such significant substance and character worth emulating. Thank you for being you. Thank you for being my friend.

Patricia's Family:

I am so very sorry for your loss! You were blessed with the 'best of the best'. Such a great loss! My thoughts are with you.
