Paul DWYER Obituary

Paul G. Dwyer Age 76, of Elkton, MD, passed away Friday, August 20, 2004, surrounded by loved ones in Christiana Hospital. He was born to the late Michael and Mary Gallagher Dwyer on March 9, 1928, in Kennett Square, PA. As a young boy, he worked at DiFilippo's store in Toughkenamon, PA. In 1949 he began working at General Motors. In 1954, he joined the Army and served our county in The Korean War. He returned to GM and retired from there after 36 years. After retiring he took a part-time job at The Cecil Whig. Paul touched the lives of many people. He was a loving husband and father, dedicated grandfather and great grandfather. He enjoyed gardening, boating and spending time at the beach. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Carrie "Betty" Dwyer; daughter, Cindy and husband, Vince Robinson; son, Sam and wife, Arnel Brown; stepsons, Jimmy and Maureen Bradley, Bob and Debbie Bradley and Harold and Marlene Bradley; and stepdaughter, Cherrie Smart; sister, Nancy Carlson; his grandchildren, Carrie, Vinnie, Becky, Sam, Robert, Sheyene, Bill, Richie, Katie, Matthew, Shane, Jenn, Holly, Harold, Gordy, BettieSue, JR; and 10 great grandchildren, with 2 more on the way. Preceded in death by brother, James; sisters, Mary, Alice, Frances and Caroline. Funeral service will be 2:00 pm, Wednesday, August 25, 2004 at Gebhart Funeral Home, 531 Delaware St., New Castle, DE. Visitation will be held Wednesday afternoon at the funeral home from 1:00 - 2:00 pm. Burial will be in the Glebe Cemetery, New Castle, DE.
