Age 81, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family, on Wednesday, September 6, 2006.
Paul was a United States Army Veteran of WWII. He was member of the 29th Infantry Division and participated in the D-Day Invasion of Normandy at Omaha Beach and was also a recipient of the Purple Heart. Paul retired from State Drywall in 1995 as a drywall finisher. Prior to that he was a paper hanger. He enjoyed bowling, shuffleboard, casino trips, horse racing and taking care of his swimming pool.
Paul was predeceased by his daughter, Anita Morgan; and by his brothers, Francis, John, William and Allan Stearrett. He is survived by his wife, Sara "Sally" Stearrett; his sons, Mark A. Stearrett of New Castle, DE and Glenn D. Stearrett and his wife, Kathy, of Hockessin, DE; his brother, Gene V. Stearrett and his wife, Pat, of Elsmere, DE; his sister, Doreeen Gaines and her husband, James, of Wilmington, DE; his son-in-law, William Morgan of New Castle, DE; 9 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral at the DOHERTY FUNERAL HOME, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek, on Monday, September 11, 2006, at 11:30 am, where friends may visit after 10 am. Burial will be in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear, DE.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Paul may be sent to West Presbyterian Church, 500 W. 8th Street, Wilmington, DE 19801.
