Mr. Paul L. Truka, 79 of Wilmington, DE passed away on Wednesday, November 11, 2009.
Mr. Truka was born in Bucyrus, Ohio on April 9, 1930, the youngest son of the late Edward and Martha (Witter) Truka. A veteran of the United States Coast Guard, he proudly served our country during the Korean War. Upon the completion of his military service, Mr. Truka became employed with the DuPont Company and retired after 32 years of dedicated service. He took great pride in being the founder of the W. E. Tobin Foundation, Inc. ("Guiding Eyes for the Blind"). He enjoyed golf and tennis, and especially enjoyed his weekly card games at the Prince of Piedmont Lodge. He will be remembered for his good and unique sense of humor.
Mr. Truka is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ardyth (Buchanan) Truka; his children, Leslie Truka, Jeffrey Paul Truka, Linda Forsberg and Janis Truka; his grandchildren, Malin and Jonas Forsberg; and his brother, David Truka.
He was predeceased by his brothers, John, Phil, Jim, Tommy and Bud; and his beloved dog, Nui.
A funeral service will be held in the chapel at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear on Wednesday, November 18 at 1PM. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. Friends may visit with the family at the DOHERTY FUNERAL HOME, 1900 Delaware Avenue, Wilmington on Wednesday from 10AM - 12 noon.
