AGE: 87 • Wilmington
Pearl Baran, age 87, of Wilmington, DE passed away on Friday, December 13, 2013 at Forwood Manor.
Pearl was born in Kulpmont, PA to the late Michael and Catherine Howanec. She was an original owner in Cleland Heights and a long time member of St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church. She enjoyed reading and was a great fan of the Philadelphia sports teams.
In addition to her parents, Pearl was pre-deceased by her first husband, Anthony Kowalewski(1954) and her second husband, Edward A. Baran(1986), a brother, Michael Howanec, sisters; Anna Hatrak, Victoria Herlinger, and Stella Howanec. She is survived by her son James E. Baran and his partner, William M. Edrington, of Wilmington,DE , her daughter, Diane Valentine and her husband, John of Richmond, VA , grandchildren; John Jr, and his wife Sharon, of Brunswick, GA, Victoria Valentine of Richmond, VA, a niece, Yvonne Sinopoli and her husband Angelo, of Newark, DE, several nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, December 17, 2013, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Chandler Funeral Home, 2506 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE 19803. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at 10:00 AM at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church, 809 s. Broom St., Wilmington, DE 19805. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Elizabeth Capital Campaign, 809 S. Broom St, Wilmington, DE.

Dear Jim, Bill & Family,
You have my deepest sympathy no words can ever take away the pain you & myself are dealing with. Pearl was such a Wonderful Friend & neighbor. I am going to miss her, as I still catch myself looking over there saying I need to call her to check up on her as I did daily. The many laughs, tears that we shared over the years will live in my heart forever. May she finally Rest in Peace and never be forgotten. I will miss my Dear Friend and may God Bless you and your Family.. All my Love,
