Ralph M. Lord

1931 - 2013

Ralph M. Lord of Greenville (formerly of Dover, Delaware) passed on Monday, October 21, 2013 at the Stonegates Health Center. He was 82. Mr. Lord was born on May 8, 1931 in Wilmington, Delaware to the late Jack K. Lord and Alice Marvel Lord. He was a graduate of The Hill School in Pottstown, Pennsylvania and Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. Ralph served in the U.S. Army as a First Lieutenant.
Mr. Lord assisted many Delawareans with their personal and business insurance needs, first as the owner and President of Hardesty Insurance and later as a Vice President of J.A. Montgomery Commerce National. He was a member of the Dover Rotary Club, having served as its past President and Treasurer. Ralph was a member and former President of the Independent Insurance Agents of Delaware. Ralph also served on the Advisory Boards for the Kent General Hospital and the Scleroderma Center at Johns Hopkins University.
Mr. Lord is survived by his wife of 45 years, Betty Lord of Greenville, Delaware, and many cousins. Ralph and Betty also enjoyed spending time at their winter home in Naples, Florida. Mrs. Lord would like to especially thank Ralph's caregivers, Wilhelmenia, Elizabeth, Debra, Eileen and Denise, as well as his physicians, Dr. Richard O'Brien and Dr. Fredrick Wigley (both at Johns Hopkins), and the nursing staff at the Stonegates Health Center.
Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Ralph's name be made to Johns Hopkins University (for Alzheimer's disease research), 100 N.
