Renee' Barth Rylander, loving mother and cherished friend to many in Newark, DE, passed away on October 27, 2008 in Liberty Hill, TX.

She was born on December 23, 1920 in New York City to the late Zoel and Emma Parenteau. Renee' and her soon to be husband Roy Rylander were working at LaGuardia Airport when they met. They were married in 1946 and that same year moved to Newark, DE where Roy began a 50 plus year adventure at the University of Delaware. As wife of the sports medicine trainer their lives were always filled with young students and many wonderful colleagues and friends. Between raising her own children and her "university children", Renee' found time to be active in the United Methodist Church of Newark, where she sang in the choir for many years. She went back into the workforce where she served as a secretary for the Newark School District after her own children graduated from high school. Renee' and Roy were an inseparable team with close to sixty years of friendships at the University of Delaware and the Newark area. Renee' loved to be outdoors. Gardening at home and with her mother in Martha's Vineyard in the summers was her passion. While visiting Texas, she was truly taken by how big, beautiful and blue the sky was, "as blue as her eyes" according to Roy, and in 2005 Renee' and Roy moved to Texas to be near her daughter and son-in-law, Chris Penders. They realized how precious it was to spend the last 3½ years together.

Renee' will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure to know her. Her memory will live with us always. She is survived by her husband, friend and confidant of 62 years, Curtis Roy Rylander; her son, William Eric Rylander of Orlando, FL, and her daughter, Roxanne Rylander of Liberty Hill, TX. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her step father, Ray Barth, a brother, William Parenteau and a sister, Zoe Kramer.

The family would like to thank all the amazing and so loving caregivers at Colonial Gardens, where she resided and those from Odyssey Health Care, a hospice organization, for the devotion and love they gave to Renee'.

Services for Renee' will be held at a later time.
