Age 47 of Claymont, DE, and formerly of Ridley Park, PA, died Sunday, September 28, 2008, at Crozer-Chester Medical Center.
Pastor Bob was born in Ridley Park, PA where he had resided until moving to Claymont. He was the Founding Minister of Restoration City Ministry, Norwood, PA where he served for the last 3 years. He served as Sr. Pastor for 10 years (1990-2000) at Darley Road Christian Center, Wilmington, DE and also served as the Asst. Pastor and Music Director at First Baptist Church in Aston, PA where he also served as the Principal of The American Christian School for 8 years (1982-1990). He was a member of Restoration City Ministry Norwood, PA where he served as founding Minister. Pastor Bob's true passion was in studying God's word and real life application. He was an accomplished vocalist and musician and played both the organ and classical piano. He was an avid reader and history buff who especially enjoyed the civil war and was also interested in the study of family history. He was the son of the late Robert H. Ballentine.
Pastor Bob is survived by 1 daughter, Robyn Joy Ballantine of Claymont, DE; his mother, Sandy (nee Kruger) Ballentine McKinley of Selbyville, DE; 1 brother, John F. (Mary) Ballentine of Ridley Park, PA; 1 sister, Sheri Ballentine Crispin of Ridley Park, PA; step father, Richard McKinley; Robyn's mother, Susan Thompson; dear friend, Bonny Romano; also survived by 6 nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service 12 noon, Saturday, October 4, at The First Baptist Church of Aston, 4150 Market Street, Aston, PA where friends may call after 9 am. Interment Chester Rural Cemetery, Chester, PA.
Contribution in memory of Pastor Bob Ballentine may be given to Restoration City Ministry, c/o Cindy Callahan, 305 Andrews Avenue, Glenolden, PA 19036.
