Robert Evans Obituary

Mr. Robert Ellis Evans, age 86, of Milford, DE, formerly of Newark, DE, passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2011.

Born in Kingman, KS, on February 4, 1925, Bob was the son of the late Ellis Evans and Helen McEvoy Evans. He bravely served his country in the US Army Air Corps during World War II and, in civilian life, would go on to a long career with the Boeing Company, where he retired as a purchasing agent after 37 years of service.

Bob was a longtime parishioner of Holy Angels R.C. Church and, later, the Thomas More Oratory, both in Newark, DE. He was a very proud supporter of University of Delaware sports and an active member of the UD Touchdown Club for many years. He also enjoyed playing golf, fishing, reading, meeting friends for breakfast, and, most of all, spending time with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Elaine Debauche Evans, and a son, Ted Robert Evans. He is survived by his daughters, Libby Ermak (Thomas) of Bear, DE, Marielle Carlson (Mark) of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and Mary Evans of Scottsdale, AZ; a brother, Richard Evans (Eileen) of Salina, KS; and grandchildren, Matthew Ermak, Ryan Ermak, Glynnis Carlson, Shyler Carlson, and Ted Tuttle.

Visitation will begin at 10:30 am on Thursday, April 21, 2011, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 W. Park Place, Newark, DE, with a memorial service following at 11:30 am. A committal service will be held at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.

Adele and I knew Bob and Ruth many years and we had some great times together. They are the cause of some of our fondest memories of our earlier years and will remain so. My wife taught both daughters Libby and Marielle in school, two of the best kids ever. Requiescat in pace. Roger Martin

I had the pleasure of meeting Bob at an office Christmas party many years ago. He was such a gracious man. I have never forgotten his kind words and sweet demeanor. He has joined Ruth and now their souls can rest with each other in eternal peace. God bless their children and their families during this very sad time.
