Robert Kidd Obituary
Passed away early Sunday, March 4, 2012, in his home in Wyoming, DE. Born in Wilmington, DE and raised in Penns Grove, NJ, he was the son of the late Robert W. Kidd II and Pauline Nocon Kidd of Penns Grove, NJ.
He was a 1958 graduate of Tower Hill School and graduated from Coe College in 1961. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in 1965 and after completing an internship at Wilmington General Hospital he served his preceptorship with Drs. Tjerland and Krieger in Wilmington, DE. Dr. Kidd began his private Orthodontic practice in Dover in 1970 and maintained a practice in both Dover and Milford up until his untimely passing.
Dr. Kidd was an active member in the dental communities and had served as a director and past -chair of the board of directors at the First National Bank of Wyoming. He was also a member of the Central Delaware Chamber of Commerce, and was an active Rotarian. Dr. Kidd was an active member of the American Association of Orthodontics, the American Dental Association, Mid-Atlantic Society of Orthodontists, Delaware State Society of Orthodontics, and the Kent-Sussex Dental Society.
He was an avid golfer, enjoyed having fun on the water, and especially cherished the time spent with his family. Bob was a kind and gentle person who will be greatly missed by the countless lives he touched and especially by those who knew and loved him.
Besides his mother, Bob leaves his loving wife of over 40 years, Janet Caputo Kidd of Wyoming, DE; his son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Elizabeth Kidd of Richmond, VA; along with his three beautiful grandchildren, Catherine, Robert, and John Kidd all of Richmond, VA; brother John Kidd of Penns Grove, NJ and sister Sandra Poehling of Winston Salem, NC.
Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation starting at 9 am on Friday, March 9, at Holy Cross Catholic Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 am. Interment will be private.
Donations in his memory can be made to The Joseph and Mary Caputo Alzheimer's Disease Research Fund, Kienle Center for Humanistic Medicine, Penn State College of Medicine, 500 University Drive, Hershey, PA 17033.

I just found out today about Dr. Kidd's passing. I am both shocked & saddened. He has been our family orthodontist, putting braces on both of my sisters when they were teenagers. One is now in her late forties, the other in her early fifties. Dr. Kidd also gave my son & I beautiful smiles. He will be missed. He was a kind soul, always taking the time to speak even while he was working. I believe that he thoroughly enjoyed his orthodontist practice & he was reallly good at it. We were so totally shocked when we heard that Dr. Kidd had passed away. My son is a current patient and my daughter was also his patient. He made both of my children's smiles beautiful!! We will miss his cheerful attitude after being a part of his practice for the past 15 years between both kids. My son says he will especially miss the great talks he and Dr. Kidd had about sports during his visits. He had grown quite fond of him.

We too are shocked to hear of Dr. Kidd's passing. My daughter is a current patient, and my other two children including myself benefited from his expertise in creating a "perfect smile". We always enjoyed his cheerful personality during our office visits. He will be greatly missed.

Dr. Kidd was an amazing orthodontist who not only straightened my teeth but my son's as well. He cared about every single patient that he had and would remember me even after all the years. My son had the awesome experience of shadowing Dr. Kidd a few years as part of his required service for his degree, and it was a great experience for him. He was an amazing orthodontist. It took 5 years of braces and 3 years of retainers for me to have this gorgeous smile. My prayers and condolences to his family and friends. He will be missed by so many lives that he helped.

My condolences to your family! Dr. Kidd was an awesome orthodontist - he fixed my crazy teeth!! He always told me every time I went to his office that I was destined to be an orthodontist, that people would line up to have their teeth fixed by Dr. Brace. :) I actually just told my dentist that on Wednesday! I was an adult patient and after 20 years, I was still a patient. I enjoyed every visit. He would be talking along and suddenly he would say "bite" and it always took me by surprise. He will be missed by his many patients. Thanks for my smile.

When I decided to undergo ortho as an adult, I came to Dr Kidd for a second opinion. I knew instantly that he would be my doctor. I loved his funny,unique personality. An appt with him was never boring. He would engage you in many diverse subjects, expertly adjusting your braces at the same time. He was a great doctor, and a friend.

I had the pleasure to know Dr. Kidd for over twenty years. My son was his patient, and then as an adult, I became his patient. Dr. Kidd was a brilliant man who found a "common ground" with each one of his patients regardless of their age. He surrounded himself with a wonderful staff. I was introduced to Dr. Kidd in 1968 by the orthodontist that I was working for. Dr Kidd had worked in his practice before moving to Dover and starting his own practice. He was a very nice person and I am sorry to hear of his passing. My sincere symaphies to his family. May he RIP.

So sad to hear about Bob. I remember him as the big brother who laughed at and tolerated the goings on of his younger sister, Sandy and myself. He was so kind to me when I was a teenager. What a loss for the whole family.

Dr. Kidd will be missed by many including our family. We took our daughter to him after being told he was "the best" and he certainly did a great job on my daughter's teeth. She was about 8 yrs old, Dr Kidd was so funny and great with my child to make her comfortable until just a month ago when she last say him, she is 22 now.
