McKee
Age 83 of Long Point, Earleville, MD, died April 24, 2008, in his home.
Mr. McKee was born on February 14, 1925 in Chester, PA, son of the late Wilbur and Dorothy Burk McKee. In 1943 he enlisted with the U.S. Army where he served as a SSGT with the 880th Field Artillery Battalion, 69th Infantry Division overseas in the European Theatre. He was a 1958 graduate of Drexel Institute in mechanical engineering. His career for Sun Oil spanned over a 40 years, retiring in 1983. Mr. McKee raised his family in Springfield, PA and had enjoyed coming to the Bohemia River since his childhood. While living in Springfield he was a member of the Covenant U.M.Church for 31 years and the Hanby Masonic Lodge. He retired to Long Point in 1983. His memberships include President of the Long Point Community Assoc. and Past President of the Hacks Point Community Assoc., since 1980 with the Trinity UM Church serving on numerous committees, a Certified Lay Speaker for the Delaware Peninsula Conference, Board of Directors for Camp Pecometh, co-Chair and volunteer of Pastoral Visitations at Union Hospital and founding member and President of Chesapeake City Ecumenical Assoc. (CCAE). Mr. McKee was the former president of Cecil-Kent Health Services.
Mr. McKee is survived by his wife of 61 years Marilyn Rozell McKee; 2 daughters, Marilyn Gaines of Lost Creek, WV, and Barbara Buck and her husband John of Elkton, MD; a son, Robert B. McKee, Jr. and his wife Sandy of Matthews, NC; a sister, Helen Duff Thompson of State College, PA; 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call on Sunday evening, April 27, from 6-8 pm in the GALENA FUNERAL HOME OF STEPHEN L. SCHAECH, 118 W. Cross St. Galena, MD. Funeral service will be held on Monday, April 28, at 2 pm in Trinity UM Church, Chesapeake City, MD where friends may call 1 hour prior. Burial in St. Paul's Cemetery, Earleville, MD.
