Robert Pettit Obituary
AGE: 56 • Bear
Passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia.
Born in Erie, PA, Bob "Balmer" lived his early life in Edinboro, PA. He served his country proudly in the US Marine Corps. He was a heavy equipment operator on the maintenance crew at the Delaware River & Bay Authority. His hobbies included deer hunting with his sons, motorcycles, NASCAR and Steelers football. A family man, he enjoyed spending time with his family. He and his wife Karen just celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in Hawaii.
He will be dearly missed by his wife, Karen (Falk) Pettit; his children, Dustin and his wife, Tiffany, of Bear, DE and Kevin and his fiancée, Rose Nesci of Bear, DE; and his grandsons, Hunter and Brantley. He is also survived by his mother Jane Showman, and his sisters Lisa Bradley and Kora Lee. Predeceasing him is sister Yvonne Mills. Also predeceasing him is his uncle and father figure, Raymond Showman, who passed earlier this week in Edinboro, PA. Balmer will be remembered for his outgoing personality, awesome sense of humor, and his love for life. #BALMERSTRONG
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and other team members of Temple University Hospital.
Friends and family are invited to visitation on Monday, September 21st between 6 and 8 PM at Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington where funeral services will be held on Tuesday morning at 11 AM. Interment will be private.

Karen, Dustin and Kevin,
So very sorry to hear about "Bomber's" passing .. he will be missed. What a happy man and such a good family man. He loved all of you and his 2 grandsons. He went to soon but left a lot of love behind...If you need anything, Karen please let us know. Good people don't come around often but he was one of the best. God Bless you all.

Dear Karen,
It is very difficult to find comfort during this time. Please know that your family and friends are there for you and your boys to help you get through. Bomber was a great man. He did a lot for Skip and for me after Skip passed. I hope that you find comfort knowing how many lives he touched and how he made the world a better place. I know he will be greatly missed by all. I didn't know Balmer very well, but that didn't stop him from giving me a big when I saw him last. Such a great guy who lived life to the fullest & had one of the best laughs ever. Sending love, prayers & peace to everyone who knew & loved him, especially to you Karen, Dusty & Kevin.

Sorry for your loss. Only ment Balmer a hand full of times, but he was always good spirited and full of energy. We always had a good laugh when we worked together. He was a great man and he will be missed.

Karen, Dusty and Kevin, you have our deepest sympathies. We've always admired how Bob was always bigger than life, and how everyone knew when he was in the room! What a gift that was to those around him. We'll never forget how much fun we all had bowling on a league together while our Ricky and Mike, along with "Little" Roger took care of your boys! And Ricky still talks about how Bob took him hunting for the very first time! We've been following Dusty's posts on Facebook the last few months and knew what was happening.
