Robert V. Powers

Robert V. Powers, age 54, of Wilmington, DE, passed away suddenly on Saturday, December 15, 2012. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 17 years, Carole, his sons; Ian and Brendan and his daughter Amelia. He is also survived by his mother Carole of Itasca, IL, his sister; Teri (Preston) of Ramer, AL, and three brothers, Steve of Houston, TX, Rick of Mesa, AZ, and John (Nancy) of Laguna Niguel, CA. In addition, he will also be greatly missed by his in-laws and many cousins.

Robert was the Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 33, which meets weekly at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Brandywine Hundred. He was very proud of his sons and their fellow scouts. His fellow adult leaders, who sincerely appreciate his tenure with the troop, will miss him.

Robert was a life-long "Food & Beverage" person, having worked in some type of food service for his entire career. He was a graduate of Iowa State University with a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 1000 Shipley Road, Wilmington, DE, 19803. The family will greet friends at the church beginning at 9:00 AM. Interment will be private at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the "Robert V. Powers Memorial Fund" for his children's education at WSFS Bank, 2522 Foulk Road, Wilmington DE 19810.
