Wilmington, DE - Robert (Bob) John Simpson Sr., age 78, of Wilmington, went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, July 29. Bob was born in Upland, PA to the late Robert and Catherine (Houston) Simpson. He was a loving husband for 53 years to Mary Powell (Smith) Simpson.

Bob is survived by his brother Henry Simpson (Louise). He was predeceased by his brothers Thomas (Darlene) and Gerald Simpson. Bob loved his family and will be sadly missed by his sons Robert J. Simpson Jr. and Richard P. Simpson (Dawn), his grandchildren David and Specialist Sean Simpson, Elsbeth Gilbert (Justin), Aeron, Brianna, and Brighid Calhoun-Simpson, his great-grandchildren Leila Calhoun-Simpson and Emery Gilbert, a devoted sister-in-law Carolyn Lewis (George) and many nieces and nephews, especially Amy Lewis who lovingly helps with the family's needs.

He proudly served his country as a corporal in the United States Marine Corps and was treasurer for the Wilmington Memorial Day Parade Committee for many years. In his younger years, Bob worked in construction and remodeling and later had an online construction estimating business.

Friends may call on Monday, August 6, 2018 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE 19803 where a memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at Gracelawn Memorial Park.
