Ruth Baker Obituary
Elkton, MD
Ruth Irene Baker of Elkton, MD, passed away at Calvert Manor Nursing Center on Saturday, October 11, 2014. She was predeceased by her parents, Manley M. Hill and Meta Anderson Hill, her brother Charles Hill and her son, William M. Baker.
She is survived by her husband of 77 years, Bill, whom she married in Bel Air, MD on December 9, 1937. Ruth is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Barbara Shockley and husband, John; daughter-in-law, Ann Baker; grandchildren, William D. Baker, Julie DeFelice, Thomas Baker and Brad Shockley and seven great grandchildren.
A lifelong resident of Cecil County, Ruth was a member of the Cherry Hill Homemakers and the Cecil County Democrat Club. She enjoyed collecting and refinishing antique furniture, was a fabulous cook who was known for her holiday dinners, and no one could match her "iced tea". She loved caring for her grandchildren and also enjoyed the company of her great grandchildren. She had a love for animals, especially dogs.
The family would like to acknowledge the staff of Calvert Manor for their care and friendship.
Family and friends are invited to a graveside service at Sharps Cemetery, Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Paws for Life Inc. in care of Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton St., Elkton, MD 21921.
