AGE: 65 • Wilmington

Thomas C. Sygowski, age 65, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on Friday December 9, 2016 after a valiant battle with cancer. He is survived by his soulmate and wife of 37 years Linda (Archangelo) Sygowski, his mother Marjorie (Stevens) Sygowski, nephews Charles and Steven Sygowski (Jennifer), great-niece Sarah and great-nephew Jonathan as well as his sisters-in-law and several cousins. Thomas was predeceased by his father Charles A. Sygowski and brother Charles W. Sygowski.

Thomas retired from Amtrak Wilmington Maintenance Facility 5 years ago where, as a member of IBEW, he had been employed as an electrician for over 35 years.

He graduated from John Dickinson High School in 1969 and attended the University of Delaware. During the early 1970's, he served in the Delaware Air National Guard and worked as an assistant golf pro at Ed Oliver Golf Club in Wilmington.

Thomas had a passion for golf & fishing. Whenever possible, he either played golf as a member of the Men's Association at Ed Oliver Golf Club in Wilmington or fished for sea trout and stripers off the Route 50 Bridge in Ocean City, Maryland. Thomas also loved to travel and relished collecting handcrafted carvings from the places he had visited.

A man of few words, Thomas is cherished among family and friends for the thoughtfulness & kindness he has displayed throughout life.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday December 17, 2016 at 11:00 am at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 9th and DuPont Streets, Wilmington. Friends may call at the church beginning at 9:00 am. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.

I was so sorry to read about your husband's passing. I remember you talking about Tom at our reunion and I could tell how much in love you two were; soulmates. You also talked about how you loved to travel together. My heart breaks for you and your families. You are lifted up in prayer and love.
