It certainly says a lot about a man to have so many people from everywhere say such good things about him. He was a very special brother-in-law to me, and I felt moved to post something on my blog in his memory http://harvyoder.blogspot.com/2011/10/vernon-zehr-1934-2011.html
Special blessings to all of you family members who mourn his loss.

I well remember Mr. Zehr when he was a special ed teacher at Richardson Park. He was always a kind and gentle man and was very patient with his students. At a time when "special ed" was off the radar, he dedicated his life to teaching these students and I so admire his dedication. I will keep you all in my prayers. Kathy Dewey

Mr. Zehr was my Elementary School Principal at Richardson Park School. I remember him as a soft plain spoken man who cared about us students. There were a lot of poor to lower class students at the school that he helped. Mr. Zehr was a well respected educator. He will not be forgotten. My condolences to the family.

Dear Freda, Jay, Kathy, Vernon John and Andrea,
I am thankful that we lived just down the street from the "little mennonite church" and that I went to bible school (even though we weren't mennonite) and we all got to meet. Vernon was very special.
With love
