William Mayew Obituary

William C. Mayew, Sr.

William C. Mayew, Sr., 59, of Bear, DE, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 12, 2009.

Born in Wilmington on February 1, 1950, Bill was a son of the late Gerald M. Mayew, Sr. and the late Cecelia E. (Finney) Tomazine. He was a brick mason by trade, working hard all of his life. Bill enjoyed working with flowers and making Christmas wreaths and arrangements. He was a very charismatic person, who enjoyed life to the fullest.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a sister, Catherine Street. He is survived by his brothers, G. Michael Mayew, Frank Tomazine, and Raymond Tomazine; sisters, Marty Wereszenski, B. Diane Gann and husband, Paul, with whom he lived, and Deborah Mayew; children, William Mayew, Jr., Michael Mayew, and Tara Greathouse; 5 grandchildren; 18 nieces and nephews; 24 great nieces and nephews; and 3 great great nieces.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, March 18, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home of Wilmington Manor, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where visitation will begin after 10 am. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Delaware Hospice, 3515 Silverside Road, Wilmington, DE 19810.
