Andrew Michio Obituary

1954-2016 Andrew P. Michio (“Andy Mish”) 61 of Great Falls, VA entered into eternal peace, February 3, 2016, after his valiant fight with leukemia (AML). He was a graduate of Lansdowne-Aldan High School where he was a stand-out baseball star. A longtime Lansdowne resident, his Delco pride remained steadfast, and always strong. He was an avid Phillies and Eagles fan and loved golfing. He was truly one of a kind and beloved by all who knew him. Although he lived a less than average life span, Andy did not have an average life. He traveled where he wanted to travel, laughed inappropriately at every chance, learned what he wanted to learn, fixed what he wanted to fix and loved who he wanted to love. Andy is preceded in death by his parents, Metro J. Michio and Anna Michio (nee Romaniw), His proudest accomplishments, his son Andrew W. Michio (Theresa), his daughters Ashley A. Michio (John), Tiffany A. Michio, grandchildren, Gianna A. Michio, Damien J. Murphy, John Andrew McIntosh, Christopher Mason Burch, Mackenzie Lynn Marker. He is also survived by his siblings, Diane M. Egan (Marty), Catherine M. Ford (Jim), Metro J. Jr., (Lorraine), Anne M. Neblett (Bill), Paul M. Michio (Glenda), and his Goddaughter Jennifer Geller, in addition to many nieces, nephews and cousins. Relative and friends are invited to his viewing, Monday after 5 pm at O’Leary Funeral home, 640 E. Springfield Rd, Springfield and Tuesday after 9:30 at Holy Myrrh-Bearer’s Urkranian Church. 900 Fairview Rd, Swarthmore PA 19081 Internment Saints Peter & Paul Springfield

Dearest Andrew _ what a treasure having you with Jim and I....we certainly had great fun and now, very special memories. You will always be here as I look at the many beautiful things you did in our home...you could do it all and did. Our friends also were crazy about you along with our neighbors, who we didn't know, but you did. They loved your warm, contagious personality and began waving to us, too, and telling us how much they enjoyed seeing and talking to you. They will miss you. We will watch over your children, Andrew, Ashley and Tiffany...they are beautiful, responsible adults. Your many dear friends are deeply saddened by your loss. To know you are at peace and free of severe discomfort helps to ease our broken hearts and sadness. There is so much to miss about you, and we will miss it all. Rest in peace dear brother, a new angel in God's house. We love you with all our hearts.
Deepest and special love
Sister Cass and brother in law, Jim (your buddy).

Uncle Andy. The world just seems more dull knowing he won't be here to crack his jokes. Or wear his tshirts that always had me rolling. (Liquor in the front one mom in case you're wondering...) vacations won't be the same without him. I loved how he would just watch the ocean for hours with the biggest smile on his face. Just so appreciative to witness it. He actually talked to my now husband,Christopher DeGroff before I did. He scoped him out for me to make sure he wasn't a psycho and needless to say he got the mandatory Uncle Andy approval. Could always count on him to tell it like he saw it whether ya like it or not. That's the Uncle Andy I love and appreciate...and I will never look at the ocean without remembering him and the heart of gold he had. I love you Uncle Andy.

I would love to say rest peacefully, Andy, but knowing you, you've probably already found a ton of friends up there and started another reunion. My fondest memories of you are the Shore Bashes; the 1st one in particular. I hardly knew you, but In true Mich style, we were friends before the 1st beer was downed. When I think of you, I think of Lansdowne, how you loved it and you represented everything that was great about it in our youth. You are one of a kind, Andy, and your family and friends will miss you until we all get together at the final Shore Bash in heaven!

I never met Andy in person, but we were friends on Facebook, as we had common friends from growing up in Lansdowne. He was quite a character! I enjoyed his blunt comments and will miss his presence there. May he rest peacefully, and may his family get through this difficult time.
