I was a student at the University of Pennsylvania in the early 70's. Majoring in both psychology and biology, i had an unofficial minor in anthropology and took several courses with Dr. Wallace. His course in Culture and Personality resonated with me, and the issues of the interaction of how culture, psychology and biology intersect changed my entire world view of human interaction. Coming back to these thoughts in recent years, especially the issue of cultural change and the importance of how cultural paradigms work led me back to his writings, and i was perhaps not surprised, but saddened to hear of his passing. To his family, i thank you for having shared your father with the world. while there are only a few entries here, i can tell you that his thinking and knowledge have had a profound impact on the world, and may continue to do so for time to come. I have always been, and still remain a huge fan and admirer of his, despite not being specifically involved in this world for some time. I am glad to have returned, and to have the ability to reacquaint myself with his writings. thank you, and my best wishes to all of you.

Among Tony's many attributes, he was a true gentleman. He was a valued friend of the Newlin Gristmill and his wise council and gentle demeanor will be much missed.

We called him "Tony". He brought pictures of me and my family from 1949..a blessing since our homestead had burned down and there were no pictures. His wife Betty kept sending Christmas cards to my grandmother Mina. After 20 yrs I finally let her know my grandmother had past. I loved Betty's cards as they were all homemade. My husband Jim and I went to meet them in PA. Betty was full of life, Tony was quiet They had made plans to come to visit us at Tuscarora the following year but Betty journeyed on before. I called Tony and said to come and see the changes from 50 yrs ago. He came and lived with us...the rest is history. He will always be family to us. Our Tuscarora History Group held a gathering in honor of Tony at Tuscarora..forever in our hearts..Katsi'tsiaka:ion-Jim and Yehsenaruhcreh-Wendy Bissell

Just chanced upon the news of Dr. Wallace's passing in the course of looking up a reference from his work for a paper I am writing. His scholarship combined brilliant analysis, intellectual creativity, and deep humanity. My condolences to his family and friends.
