Donald Blythe Obituary

1954-2016 Donald R. Blythe, 61 of Ridley Park, formerly of Secane, at peace with his life on this Earth, passed in his sleep without any pain on January 3, 2016. Mr. Blythe grew up in Westbrook Park. He was the son of the late Charles T. and Eloise J. (Gabe) Blythe, Sr. He attended Holy Cross Elementary School and graduated from Upper Darby High School, where he was a three way varsity football player on offense, defense and special teams. Donald worked for the Gro Construction Company as a stone mason’s assistant and later built several stone works on his own. He was a caddie at the Rolling Green Golf Club and for a short time, a card dealer in Atlantic City. Don struggled early on with mental illness, but settled down to be a warm and friendly person who was liked by all. He enjoyed listening to the radio, tuned into the music of the 60’s and 70’s, wrote thoughtful letters to friends and family and always sent out personally selected cards for holidays and special occasions. Predeceased by his sisters Carol George and Sandra A. Blythe. Survivors: Brothers: David A. Blythe and Charles T. Blythe, Jr. Visitation: Saturday 10:00 AM at Williams Lombardo Funeral Home, 33 W. Baltimore Avenue, Clifton Heights, PA 19018 Funeral Service: Saturday, 11:00AM at Williams Lombardo Funeral Home Burial: Arlington Cemetery, 2900 State Road, Drexel Hill, PA 19026 Condolences: www.williamslombardofuneralhome.com

Don, all the work is done. You can rest now. You did a great job with your time in hospice care. They all loved you. You were so warm and friendly. You were physically big and strong all your life but even stronger when facing the end with a spirit of peace. I'll miss you.

Don from a very young age, I always liked you. You were a great guy, big heart. Was planning to come see you and then you passed. Sure I will see you again.

Not sure if my first message went thru or not..so..
Cuz Donald..you will be missed...Gentle Giant type to some of us...enjoy your family in Heaven, cuz
David and Charlie and family, our prayers and thoughts are with you during this tough time..yet again.
Back in the day, there was a time, when Don walked into the Bungalow, it was like Elvis had walked in..quite an amazing sight..he was SO well liked, etc.
Well, take care, hang in.

Cuz Don, you will be missed...pretty much a gentle giant type guy.
Charlie, David and family, we are very sorry for yet another loss. Don will be missed immensely. Only good times with Don. Early in Don's life, for instance, when he would walk in the Bungalow, it was as if Elvis had walked in. VERY popular guy..liked by all. Well, take care and hang in. Mike, Dawn & Michael McGrath
