Gail Marie Lester (nee Rose)

Passed away peacefully in her sleep March 22, 2026 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.

Gail was born April 10, 1940 to Edison and Anita Rose of Ridley Park, PA. She had one older brother, E. Clark Rose (deceased), whom she adored. She spent the early years of her life in Ridley Park, until the family moved to Brookhaven, PA. Gail married Larry Lester (deceased) of Ashland, NC and Woodlyn PA on June 13, 1964. Gail is survived by three children Allen, Cherith and Brett (Aura) and 5 grandchildren, Arianna, Rhea, Maddy, Patrick and Finley.

Gail was a 1958 Graduate of Eddystone High School and went on to graduate from William Jennings Bryan College in Dayton, TN, with a degree in Elementary Education. She taught for several years at Boothwyn Elementary School, until she left to raise her children. Later in life she would fill in as a substitute teacher and part time librarian at The Christian Academy in Brookhaven.

Gail spent her life dedicated to her family, her friends and her church. She was a loving wife and mother who worked tirelessly to care for her family. She loved to garden, was an amazing cook and loved music. Gail was also a lifelong member of North Chester Baptist Church, where she met Larry. She dedicated her life to the service of God, volunteering her time at North Chester Baptist and The Christian Academy. She was a Sunday School teacher, a Deaconess, an administrator, served on fundraising committees, sang in the choir and helped those in the community and the congregation in need.

She will forever be remembered as a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

Please join the family for a Memorial and Celebration of Life on April 25, 2026 at J. Nelson Rigby Funeral Home, 1 W Baltimore Ave, Media, PA 19063. Visitation at 11:30 AM, memorial service to immediately follow at 12:30 pm.

Private burial for family only at Edgewood Memorial Park.
