Hans Solum Obituary

Hans Edward Solum, 90 Of Bethel Twp., PA Hans Edward Solum, 90, died on November 27, 2012 in the home that he built. Born to the late Hans and Mae Williams Solum in Linwood, he was raised in Marcus Hook PA, and graduated Eddystone High School in 1940. He married his high school sweetheart, Ruth Anna Bell in 1944. He served in the Navy during W.W. II as an airplane taxi pilot and mechanic. He was a machinist and foreman at Sun Oil Co. for 53 years. He lived in Bethel Twp. since 1952. Hans attended Siloam United Methodist Church, he formerly served as a Bethel Twp. Supervisor, was active with the Boy Scouts throughout his life, belonged to the Concord Masonic Lodge 625 and enjoyed woodworking, gardening and was known for fixing anything. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Ruth Anna Bell Solum; granddaughter Alison Leah Solum who died in 1996; and brother, Oliver Solum. Survivors: Son Hans Edward Solum Jr. and wife Susan; daughter, Jane Inman and husband Terry; sister Pauline Petrovitch; brother David Solum; 4 grandchildren, Mindy, Jason, Amy and Adam; great-grandchildren, Emily, Evan, Summer and Sienna. As a little girl I REMEMBER going to Uncle Ed's and Aunt Ruthie's house and I would crawl on their perfect spit shined floor that was just scrubbed because I was coming over..I not sure who worked harder to make sure it was SAFE for ME to crawl...
