JoAnn Ellen Sharp

JoAnn Ellen Sharp (nee Link), 76, of Lansdowne, PA passed away on October 24, 2023, while asleep in bed after a lengthy illness. She was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on May 24, 1947, the oldest of three children of Edwin and Joan Link. She is survived by her brothers Thomas and Michael Link, and her children, Jeffrey Sharp of Seattle, WA., Jonathan Sharp of Sewell, NJ., Rebecca Melniczuk of Woodstown, NJ., Brian Sharp of Denver, CO., and Brendan Sharp of Prospect Park, PA. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and three nieces and two nephews. After graduating from high school, JoAnn graduated with a degree in nursing from Misericordia Hospital School of Nursing in 1969. Soon after she met and married James Hunter Sharp, who was taken too soon by cancer. Her life was forever altered in 1983 by a car accident which after a year of recovery led to more school and a career change. Using her knowledge as a nurse, she pursued a Master's degree in Healthcare Administration and worked in case management until retirement. JoAnn struggled as a widow and single mother most of her life, but persisted and made do with what she had. She was active in her children's lives coaching little league baseball and cheering them on from the sidelines. She was also a strong advocate of higher education. She traveled regularly for vacation and enjoyed the company of close friends and her grandchildren who called her Grammy. JoAnn was a woman who charted her unique course through life, always steadfast in her determination to pursue her own distinctive path. Her pain has ended. She will be missed.
