Dorothy Prince Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Doyle-Stonelake Funeral Home - Lansdowne on Jan. 27, 2026.
Dorothy Prince (née Straccioni) passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at the age of 89.

Born on August 29, 1936, to Francesco and Elvira Straccioni, Dorothy was raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where her spirited independence emerged early and remained a defining part of her life. As a young girl, she was daring and self-assured -famously taking the train with her best friend at just six years old and enrolling herself in a new school. These stories became family legend, early proof of the strong, enduring woman she would become.

Dorothy formed deep friendships, many lasting from childhood. She was a trusted and reliable neighbor who built meaningful connections within her neighborhood and showed up for others with consistency and care. A devout Catholic, her faith was a steady presence throughout her life and guided the way she loved and served those around her.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Richard Joseph Prince, with whom she shared a devoted marriage; her parents, Francesco and Elvira Straccioni; and her siblings, Raymond Straccioni, Arthur Straccioni, Luigi Straccioni, and Gloria Tagliaferri.

Family was the center of Dorothy's world. She cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and played an active role in raising the younger generations. Her grandchildren always knew where to find her and could reliably expect a candy dish nearby.

Dorothy was the embodiment of an Italian mother and grandmother: warm, generous, and endlessly hospitable. Her home was always open, and no one ever crossed her threshold without being fed whether they thought they were hungry or not. Cooking brought her joy, and nourishing others was how she showed love. To sit at Dorothy's table was to be welcomed, cared for, and strongly encouraged to have seconds.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Richard Prince (Lynne), Ronald Prince (Donna), and Paula Ramondo (Gary); her grandchildren, Richard Prince (Kate), Jaclyn McDevitt (Daniel), Matthew Prince (Rachel), Lauren Prince Bloom (Nicholas), Robyn Wykes (Daniel), Geena Ramondo, and Francis Ramondo; and her great-grandchildren, Olivia Prince, Owen Prince, Daniel McDevitt, Mason McDevitt, Cecilia Prince, Richard Prince, Francesca Prince, Marilla Bloom, Dean Prince, Aria Wykes, Scarlett Bloom, Rocco Prince, and Vienna Wykes.

She will be remembered for her independence, her faith, her devotion to family, and the way she made room, both literally and figuratively, for others throughout her life.

Family and friends are invited to her Viewing on Monday, February 2, 2026 at St. Philomena Church, 41 E. Baltimore Avenue, Lansdowne, PA 19050 from 9:00 AM to 10:15 AM followed by her Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM. Interment SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery.

Aunt Dot, I wish you were still here. I miss you so much. You were always there for me and I wish I didn´t live so far. I hope you´re a peace and you´re feeling better than ever. Keep an eye on me and thought when you´re up there in heaven cause I know you´re there. Tell all my uncles I said hi. I love you Aunt Dot and miss you so much your niece Carole Quartapella.

We danced until we were exhausted at shanahan weekly and many other
halls. We spealed across the sandy floors to songs sung the Platters. Your beautiful blonde hair flowing down and in Richie´s arms. Richie and I jitterbugged to Elvis songs and never tired! it was magic for me because dancing was my passion! Dot you were my buddy and were always together. One night you took your father´s car and we drove around even though you didn´t have a license. We hooked school and your mom caught us in your house on 65th street. My dear friend I love you Phyllis
