John H. Bastian Jr.

1974 - 2022

John H. “Johnny B” Bastian, Jr., age 48, of Drexel Hill, PA, formerly of Upper Darby, PA, passed away suddenly on July 20, 2022. Born in Darby, PA, he was the son of John H. Bastian, Sr. and the late Judith “Judy” Bastian (nee Lane) Johnny was a proud graduate of St. Laurence School in Upper Darby. He was a 1992 graduate of Monsignor Bonner High School. Upon graduating Bonner, he attended Northeastern University where he was on their rowing team. After 2 years at Northeastern, Johnny decided to come home where he began working at Cawley’s Irish Pub for 10 years. In 2006, Johnny decided it was time to open up his own place, and purchased Johnny B’s Place in Drexel Hill. He along with Janine ran a very successful bar that is still open today. In 2012, Johnny was very proud to open a second bar and restaurant along with his partner, known as JT Brewski’s in Primos. Between growing up in the greatest neighborhood on earth and owning two successful bars, Johnny has touched thousands of lives. In his downtime, there was nothing he loved more than playing golf at McCall Golf Club in Upper Darby, and going on any golf trip that he was invited to. He also adored his nieces and nephews and loved spending time with them and attending their sporting events, as well as visiting the Jersey shore and vacationing in the Adirondacks. In addition to his father, Johnny B is survived by the love of his life, Janine Urbanski, his siblings Cindy Pinto (Joseph), Michele Bradley (Bob) and Bob Bastian (Chrissy), his nieces and nephews Emma, Jessica, Mary Kate, Joey, Nathan, Shane, Bobby, Josephine Judith, Laney, Cole, Valerie, Andrew and Carter. He is also survived by many other family members and close friends. Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing Tuesday, July 26, 2022 6:00-9:00 PM at The Donohue Funeral Home, 8401 West Chester Pike (cor. Lynn Blvd.), Upper Darby (610) 449-0300 and to his Funeral Mass Wednesday, July 27, 2022 10:30 AM at St. Dorothy Church, 4910 Township Line Road, Drexel Hill, PA. Interment will follow at SS Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Johnny B’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to Ovarian Cancer Research at Penn Medicine, 3535 Market Street, Suite 750, Philadelphia, PA 19104 would be appreciated.
