Erwin Oeller Oeller
August 23, 2016
Hello: My name is Erwin Oeller "Hoxie" and I know this is very late. By chance I was looking at the OCNJ paper and saw this notice of your loss. I grew up in Ocean City and worked at Sampson Bros Boat Yard. I took care of your Boat, or should I say boats until I left to "get a real job" in 1978. John Benner, well all of the Benner brothers and families were always very pleasant and nice and I remember seem to be smiling and enjoying life and each other. I have all fond memories, thanks. Here's to a magnificent man, who loved life and who shared his love of it with everyone. Would that we all could live as he did and enjoy a long active life.
We always enjoyed seeing him at Luke and Gabriella's recitals. He had a kind, generous, happy spirit. We will never forget his blueberry pancakes.
Our condolences go out to all his family. A very fine testament of him is the son he raised, Dr. John Benner.

What a wonderful man. He was my father's best friend and my adopted Uncle. There was never a time that Uncle John didn't make me feel loved. Anyone who knew him loved him. It was something you didn't have control of, you just loved him. He was a fantastic man and a very caring one. He will be missed.

What a wonderful neighbor John has been all these years! Always taking time for a chat and asking how the family was, both ours and all the Pfisters.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Sincerely, Kathy (Pfister) and Jim Dunn

To the entire Benner family, I wish you my sincerest condolences. Mr. Benner will always be remembered for his kind and compassionate love for people and of course fishing. For me, Mr. Benner was a family friend, a mentor, and most importantly a man who firmly believed in family values. While we have lost touch in recent years, you will forever be part of me and how I teach my family, the virtues you instilled in me. May your heaven have a yacht club and a marlin and tuna club so you can continue to enjoy a few of your favorite passions, dancing, fishing and perhaps a few libations. May you rest in peace, for your entire life, I dont believe I ever saw you resting. Prayers be with you Mr. Benner. Your good Friend, George Robinson
