My favorite John Doc story. I'd known John a long time from the lube equipment industry. At one point I went into business as his competitor. He told me he would help me any way he could. I asked if he had any used air compressors for sale. He told me he had 3. I drove my truck over and picked one out. I expected to pay about $1000 for it. I asked how much I owed him for it and he laughed and said "nothing, just take it". I was floored and Ill never forget it. A great man and a great friend.

Dear Susan,
I went to visit Madaline on Lexington Ave today. She told me about John. My heart just sunk. I am so so sorry for the loss of your beloved husband. He was the greatest guy. My mother loved him. I love him. I'm certain everyone who ever met him loved him.
He is no doubt in Heaven watching over you and your family.

Doc was so kind and generous. My memories are so full. Doc when he first got married he moved in across the street from my Irish parents. The Irish made a connection with Doc. One Saturday I had taken my mom shopping and on our return my dad came out to the car and said the plummer was here. My mother totally confused said "WHAT." It was doc. Our old house had huge radiators which my mother hated, Doc decided on his own they had to go. He removed them and wouldn't take a dime. One Christmas he arrived at their door with a bottle of Jamison. I saw "Dueling Banjos" with Doc. great memories of kindness and humor.A good friend
